Marion County Firefighters Rescue Woman from Burning Home
DECEMBER 21, 2016 – CYNTHIANA, KY – Firefighters from Marion County Fire Rescue are well trained in the use of thermal imaging technology, and that training coupled with their quick response saved a woman’s life.
Lieutenant Robert Kruger, Lieutenant Bob Walsh, Engineer Michael Hoover, Engineer Daniel Tew, Firefighter/EMT Charles Carey, and Firefighter/EMT Levi Nevels responded to a 911 call on April 24, 2016 for a residential structure fire with a resident trapped inside. “The crew reacted quickly, forcing their way into the home that was engulfed with heavy black smoke,” said James Lucas, public information officer for Marion County Fire Rescue.
Once inside the home, the crew used a Bullard Eclipse® Thermal Imager to search for the homeowner. “Lieutenant Kruger heard noises coming from the master suite of the home but because the structure was filled with thick black smoke it was difficult to maneuver around,” said Lucas. “The Lieutenant instructed Firefighter Carey to use the crew’s thermal imager to locate the victim.” Within two minutes of entering the home, using the thermal imaging camera, the woman was found and brought to safety.
The firefighters from Marion County Fire Rescue will be inducted into Bullard’s Save-A-Life Club, which honors firefighters who have saved a life while using a Bullard Thermal Imager, on August, 16, 2016 at 9:00am at the Board of County Commissioners’ meeting (McPherson Governmental Complex Auditorium, 601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala).
